Stepping up its campaign against the alleged repression on its workers, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday set up a panel of senior advocates of the Punjab and Haryana high court as well as lawyers from lower courts to ensure that the erring police officials are made to face the law of the land.

Giving these details, party spokesperson Harcharan Singh Bains alleged that the Congress has unleashed a wave of repression and vendetta against innocent Akali workers at the grassroot level. He said that the SAD high command has decided to confront this challenge head on.

Bains quoted Badal as saying, “The Akalis have a history of defying the British and fighting against the Emergency and the present government should be under no illusion that it can browbeat brave Akali workers. We will defend every Akali worker who faces repression.”
