"Confrontation should be avoided and a peaceful solution found," Phoolka stated here on Saturday, advising the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Sikh leaders of Haryana to settle the HSGMC issue in the Supreme Court or the high court; and until the decision, allow 11 elected members of the SGPC from Haryana to administer the gurdwaras in that state.

SAD (Delhi) led by Paramjit Singh Sarna also has welcomed the Akal Takht directive. In a statement issued here, party general secretary Harvinder Singh Sarna said Sikhs were relieved that tension had been defused but the Badals shouldn't be allowed to move court when the matter was under the Akal Takht purview.

He asked the Badals to call back their armed supporters camping in the Haryana gurdwaras.
