Powercom JEs on strike for better pay scales

The junior engineers and additional engineers of Powercom in the state have suspended work since March 19 to press for their demands for revised pay scales, conveyance allowance for the field staff, recruitment of diploma holders against vacant posts of junior engineers, release of all the dues for the retirees on or before the retirement day and due promotions to junior engineers.

Council of Junior Engineers and Diploma Engineers Association general secretary Joginder Singh Nanowalia said here on Saturday that the JEs were not recovering outstanding power bills worth lakhs, not conducting raids to detect power thefts and not getting any material from the Powercom stores as a mark of protest. He said their boycott would continue till March 27.

"If the government does not agree to our demands till then, we will go on an indefinite strike," he warned.
