PWD minister, others to pay homage to Saragarhi martyrs

Saragarhi Day will be observed at the Saragarhi memorial gurdwara here to pay homage to the 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36 Sikh Regiment who died while defending the Fort of Saragarhi in Wazirstan, now in Pakistan, on September 12, 1897 against an attack by 10,000 Pathans.

Punjab PWD minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon, state BJP chief Kamal Sharma, Ferozepur Divisional Commissioner VK Sharma, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Joginder Singh Zindu besides others would attend the function, said deputy commissioner, Ferozepur, DPS Kharbanda.
