Punjab water supply and sanitation minister Surjit Singh Rakhra unfurled the Tricolour at a function at the police line stadium here on Monday.

Punjab water supply and sanitation minister Surjit Singh Rakhra unfurled the Tricolour at a function at the police line stadium here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, "Though, after Independence, the country has made many achievements, but a lot is yet to be done for the betterment of the common man."

Besides Punjab police and Punjab homeguards, several NCC cadets and school students participated in the parade. Rakhra also honoured family members of freedom fighters and the people, who had excelled in different fields. On the occasion, Rakhra also announced Rs 5 lakh for the up gradation of the stadium in the police line.
