Sarpanch among 13 booked for fraud; one held

SHO Rupinder Singh said Hardeep Singh and sarpanch Balwinder Singh, Jarnail Singh and Lakhbir Singh of Talwan village and

their 10 accomplices have been booked under Sections 419, 420 (cheating) 465, 467, 471 (fraud) and 120-B9 (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.

Khushdeep Kaur of Talwan village in her complaint to Jalandhar (rural) SSP said that the accused connived and registered a 16 kanal 8 marla land situated in Talwan village on Hardeep Singh's name in 2008, representing him as the owner of the land who had died long ago and even produced fake documents.

She claimed that the land was under her possession and she even had the general power of attorney with her. The SSP marked an inquiry to Phillaur DSP, who recommended a case against the accused.
