Bobby, 27, is a resident of Rana village in Garhdiwala. He is in a five-day police remand for his involvement in the murder of sarpanch Satnam Singh.

Bobby was driving the car — white Hyundai i20 — in which the shooters had come to the gurdwara. Bobby surrendered before the Punjab police in January and was brought to the city on production warrants.

Satnam Singh was a witness in the murder case of his brother — Nishan Singh alias Shana — who was shot dead by his rivals in Garhdiwala town in July 2013. Bobby is also accused in the murder case of Nishan Singh, while Satnam is the complainant and as well as eyewitness in the case. Satnam was with his brother Nishan in a car when he was killed in July 2013.

As per the sources, Bobby had hired men to shoot Satnam and drove them to gurdwara for helping them in identifying sarpanch. According to the sources, sarpanch was scheduled to testify before the court on April 11, two days after he was killed.

Driver made the last call to Satnam

Police investigations have revealed that Satnam Singh, who was attending a religious congregation in the Sector 38 gurdwara, was called by his driver Nirmal Singh before his killing. Satnam was shot dead when he had stepped out of the gurdwara. Nirmal, who hails from the village of the accused, was hired three months prior to the murder. However, Nirmal is also the complainant in the case.

Shooters still at large

The three shooters — Dilpreet Singh Baba, Harjinder Singh alias Akash and Harvinder Singh alias Rinda — who are dreaded criminals wanted by Punjab police, are still at large.

All the accused had fled to Barwala after the incident and Bobby escaped to Kolkata from there.
