Makkar said the UP governor had been informed that Waryam, who was lodged in a Bareilly jail, had lost his sight. "The UP governor has been urged to ensure that the Sikh detainees who have completed their sentence be released at the earliest so that they can lead the rest of their lives with their families," he said.
