SGPC’s chief secretary’s appointment challenged in HC
Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday issued notice on the appointment of Harcharan Singh as chief secretary by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), asking them to give explanation why his appointment should not be stayed.

Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday issued notice on the appointment of Harcharan Singh as chief secretary by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), asking them to give explanation why his appointment should not be stayed.
The court also said that as per the norms, the SGPC should not have created the post.It also said that person appointed for the post is more than 70 years of age.
A former banker, Harcharan Singh was appointed as the chief secretary by the SGPC in August.
