Sidhu stated, "I was asked to remain silent by party chief Rajnath Singh but now party discipline is on one side and my duty for Amritsar and its people is on the other side."

"Every person of Punjab knows why I have decided to take this extreme step and how my projects were scuttled. I don't want to indulge in any blame game. This decision is my own and will fight for Amritsar till my last breath," he stated.

Sindhu, MP from Amritsar, said: "For me politics is commitment to the people. And I am not looking at any profit or loss before taking this step. Whatever I am demanding (projects) is for the people of Amritsar."
