The government has not been providing them their salaries since February.

The volunteers even tried to block the road infront of DC office but the police cops stopped them from doing so. A panel comprisisng of five volunteers to represent STV will sit with the deputy commissioner on Monday.

The volunteers are not given any work to do in the government schools and neither are they allowed to mark attendance.

A volunteer of STV, earlier known as Education Guarantee Scheme ,said, “The government has assured us that they will hire us on contract basis and accordingly salary would be provided. But uptil now, the authorities are cross checking our documents. We feel helpless as it is difficult to run our homes without any salary.

Another volunteer who chose not to be named, said, “The government is trying to fool us by cross checking our documents repeatedly. I have reached a point where I have to do labour work to run my house”.
