An 85-year-old man, who was bludgeoned with a washing bat in his house at Prem Nagar of Field Gunj on the intervening night of December 17 and 18, succumbed to his injuries at Christian Medical College and Hospital on Sunday.

Robbers had looted a scooter and other articles from the house before decamping.
Ameer Singh was living alone, as a result there was no one at home at the time of incident.
The sweeper of the area was first to know about the incident when he came to Singh's house to collect garbage on Wednesday morning. On finding Singh lying on the floor in a pool of blood, he had raised an alarm, following which area residents sounded the police.
The police have sent the body for post-mortem examination to civil hospital.
