3 Class 10 boys feared drowned in Beas at Sri Hargobindpur

Three Class 10 boys, aged between 15 and 17, drowned in the Beas river here at Talwara village near Sri Hargobindpur town on Sunday afternoon.

A friend of the victims survived. The victims have been identified as Ravinder Singh, Narinder Singh, Karan Kumar and the survivor is Harvinder Singh — all residents of Baath village under Tanda police station.

According to the information, the group went to take a dip in the Beas near Balley village . Ravinder , Narinder and Karan drowned, while Harvinder managed to swim to safety. All his efforts to rescue his friends went in vain.

After failing to get help, Harvinder informed his parents, who reached the spot with the family members of other boys. Soon, dozens of divers from nearby villages tried to locate the boys but couldn’t succeed.

A team of divers from PAP, Jalandhar, rushed to the spot and started a search operation with the help of boats and floodlights.

Efforts to locate the boys were on when the report was filed late evening.
