Victim Mangal Das of Jaintipur village was on way to home in his milk van after collecting payments when the suspects riding two motorcycles stopped him near Hasanpura village.
They asked Mangal to hand over cash and gold chain to them, but when he resisted, the suspects attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. After leaving him seriously injured, they fled with cash and other valuables.
On receipt of information, police rushed to the spot and took the victim to the local civil hospital.
On April 4, seven-eight unidentified persons had decamped with ornaments from the Basent Nagar residence of a jeweller after threatening the family members.
