Undertrial attempts suicide in central jail

The city police have registered a case against a jail inmate after he attempted suicide in the jail premises on Saturday. The undertrial has been identified as Baljit Singh. In a complaint to the police, the jail superintendent said the inmate tried to hang himself with a rope. Baljit was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, where his condition is said to be stable. The superintendent said Baljit might have found the rope in the jail factory.
