Vacant posts of doctors to be filled soon: Mittal

Punjab health and family welfare minister Madan Mohan Mittal said today that the vacant posts of doctors in the state would be filled soon. Talking to media persons here, Mittal said the health department would shortly initiate the process to fill 593 vacant posts of the doctors.

Punjab health and family welfare minister Madan Mohan Mittal said on Sunday that the vacant posts of doctors in the state would be filled soon. Talking to media persons here, Mittal said the health department would shortly initiate the process to fill 593 vacant posts of the doctors.

He was at Fatehgarh Sahib to inaugurate a TB Centre in the civil hospital. He also presided over a seminar on disabled persons organised by confederation for challenged.

The minister said that doctors posted in civil hospitals and government dispensaries have been directed to remain present from 8 am to 2 pm to provide better heath facilities to people.

He claimed that there was no dearth of medicines in government hospitals and dispensaries. He said the state government had taken steps to provide Rs 1.5 lakh financial assistance to cancer victims.

During the function, the minister also honoured a disabled state awardee science teacher Surinder Pal Singh for his outstanding contribution in the field of education.

The minister said the state government had chalked out various schemes for disabled persons. Mittal, who also holds the charge of social security and women and child development, said special awareness camps would be held in the state for disabled persons.
