He said complainant Baljinder Kaur, a resident of Madhokal village in Fatehgarh Sahib district, had approached the VB, alleging that the SDO and his clerk were demanding bribe from her for enhancing consumer load of her tubewell connection. Kaur owned 2-acre land at Lasoi village.

He said after verifying the facts, a vigilance team led by Gurcharan Singh, inspector, VB, Sangrur, laid a trap and nabbed the two red-handed in the presence of two government officials as witnesses. "The bribe amount was recovered from them," he said. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered and further investigation was under progress.
