Woman HIV patient commits suicide

A woman resident of Atteypur village under Ghuman police station allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house on Tuesday. She was said to be HIV positive.

A woman resident of Atteypur village under Ghuman police station allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house on Tuesday. She was said to be HIV positive.

Deceased Harjit Kaur is survived by her husband Rajinder Singh, who was employed at Kanyakumari, and a six- month-old daughter.

She had come to know about her HIV status during her pregnancy and was tensed ever since. She took the extreme step while her mother-in-law was away to market. After her mother-in-law returned to discover the body, police were informed.

Ghuman police have registered a case under Section 174 of IPC and sent the body to civil hospital for post-mortem.
