Though cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Tuesday made a comeback to the Indian T20 squad for the world cup and got the good news while on a visit here, the southpaw decided "not to talk cricket" claiming he was here to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple.
About the visit, Yuvraj said, "When I was ill, I had promised myself that the day I recover I would pay obeisance at Darbar Sahib. I have specially come for that."
Yuvraj with his mother Shabnam Singh walked in the parikrama of the Golden Temple bringing smiles to the faces of his fans. They approached him for pictures but he was indifferent and seemed in his own world. The positive aura that has been his strength during his battle with cancer was missing.
Refusing to talk about cricket or the IPL, Yuvraj focused more on discussing his campaign YOUWECAN to fight cancer, especially in Punjab.
"I am not here to talk cricket as I have come to the God's abode."
Talking about his cancer drive, he said, "I have already talked to Badal saab. Some cases have been detected and the drive will soon reach Punjab."
Shabnam Singh said, "The campaign is going on rightly and effectively. Till date we have detected around 80,000 cases." Coming back to her son's health and thanking God, she said, "Yuvi is not my son only, he is son of the country. I thank God that my child is back after a long battle."Shabnam supported her son saying he was not there to discuss cricket.
Visits cricket academy
In the evening, Yuvraj visited St Francis cricket academy run by former Ranji player Ravneet Ricky. There he motivated the kids saying true dedication and commitment are required to achieve a good level in sports. He gave tips to the budding cricketers. While signing off, when asked about his inclusion in the T20 squad, Yuvraj refused to comment.
