36 Vayathinile: Watch Jyothika's emotional journey to self discovery

The first look of former Tamil star Jyothika’s comeback film, 36 Vayathinile, is out. The film is a remake of last year's Malayalam sleeper hit, How Old Are You, which marked the return of Manju Warrier to the silver screen.

36 Vayathinile's lead, Jyothika too could be hoping for a similar change in fortunes with the film. Marriage, two kids and years of staying away from the arc lights has done little to dim her charm. The poster shows Jyothika facing the camera in a bright yellow and pink salwar kameez, establishing an instant connect with her audience through her confidence and innate warmth. The original Malayalam film was about a middle-aged married woman making her way into a male-dominated world where nobody thought she'd survive. To that affect, the film marks the defiance of a gentle yet determined woman. A first look teaser too has been released which shows her journey.

The makers of the film have intelligently titled it as 36 Vayathinile (At the age of 36), burrowing liberally from the 1977 hit 16 Vayathinile, starring Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Sridevi. Like the latter, this story too charts the emotional journey of a woman in an unforgiving world full of prejudices.

The film is being directed by Rosshan Andrrews and is actor Suriya’s home production.
