Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai is slated to released on May 11 and the trailer was released on social media on Saturday. In the trailer, we see Samantha Akkineni as Dr Rathi Devi diagnosing a patient. As she asks the questions, the patient stays off the camera. What we see instead is Vishal playing an army officer who is questioning things that are happening around him. Dr Rathi asks, “Do you get angry often?”, and his friend replies, “All he does is get angry.”
Vishal plays the role of an emotional training officer who is frustrated with the indifference of the people in the country when it comes to how army men suffer at the border. He is angry at the fact that everything is difficult for an army personnel - be it getting a passport or a ration card - and it looks like all of this leads him to the psychiatrist’s door where he vents about the corruption in society today.
How will this man react to cyber war? Arjun Sarja plays the role of a man who thinks ‘information is power’. He puts cyber war right after a war fought with weapons and bio war, and it seems he is the one waging it as well. Aadhaar card and the data security debate that goes with it plays a pivotal part in the film as well. Vishal sees the lives who are demarcated by a number, when the man behind the cyber crimes sees nothing but numbers.
Their cat-and-mouse game forms the crux of the film directed by PS Mithran. Vishal has produced the film under his home banner, Vishal Film Factory, and the music is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Cinematography for this film is done by George C Williams.
