A real chimpanzee will play a key role in upcoming Tamil film Gorilla, starring Jiiva and Arjun Reddy fame Shalini Pandey. On Thursday, the film was officially launched with a pooja and was subsequently followed by regular shooting. The makers are likely to head to Thailand for a month-long schedule to shoot some sequences. According to a source from the film’s unit, the Samut training station in Thailand trains the chimp named Kong for the role and hence the shooting of a major chunk of the film will happen there.
Being directed by Don Sandy, the film also stars Radha Ravi, Sathish, Muniskanth, Yogi Babu and Mottai Rajendran. It is being rumoured that Gorilla is a heist comedy where a chimp helps a team of misfits to rob a bank. The team plans to wrap up entire shooting by April and is hoping for a summer release.
Jiiva, meanwhile, awaits the release of two projects. His romantic-comedy Kalakalappu 2, which also stars an ensemble cast of Shiva, Jai, Catherine Tresa and Nikki Galrani, is gearing up for February 9 release.
His next release would be psychological thriller Kee, which will be a thriller that will shine the spotlight on the ill effects of modern technology. This Kalees directed film will also touch upon the Blue Whale game which took the internet by storm very recently.
