Following the success of Velaikkaran and currently busy wrapping up rural comedy Seemaraja, Sivakarthikeyan will begin work on his upcoming yet-untitled science-fiction film with director R. Ravi Kumar – popular for helming the critically-acclaimed Indru Netru Naalai - from summer. Oscar-winning composer A.R Rahman has already been signed for the project.

The latest update is that the project is most likely to mark the first time collaboration of Siva and Rakul. An official announcement from the makers is awaited regarding Rakul’s inclusion in the project. Last seen in Karthi’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru in Kollywood, Rakul’s latest release Aiyaary has opened to very poor reviews. Her next major Tamil release will be Suriya-Selvaraghavan’s untitled project.

To be made on a lavish budget, the film will be Siva’s maiden attempt at a very different genre and he’s really excited about the project. In a recent media interaction, he said, “It is true that I’m doing a science-fiction film and we will make sure it will appeal to all kinds of audiences.” The project was supposed to go on the floors much earlier but got delayed due to extensive research work. “The delay in commencement is due to exhaustive research work for the project. I told Ravi that he can go work on another film and come back when I’m done with all my existing commitments. But he insisted that he will work on the pre-production and keep everything ready by the time I’m ready to join.”
