Tamil movie star Samantha Akkineni has shared the first poster for her upcoming film, U-Turn. From the first look, the film seems gritty, rugged, gloomy but fierce.

“Here is a film I believe in. Hope you will share the same opinion on September 13th in Telugu and Tamil .Presenting #UTurnTheMovie first look.Directed by @pawanfilms and produced by @SS_Screens. Also stars @AadhiOfficial @23_rahulr @bhumikachawlat @UTurnTheMovie,” she tweeted with the photo. The film is a Tamil and Telugu remake of 2016’s Kannada hit by the same name.

Samantha watched the film in January last year at a special screening in Bengaluru and immediately gave her nod. She was also rumoured to be a producer on the film.

Talking to Times of India, Pawan Kumar, who will helm the project said: “Aadi will be essaying the cop’s role and Rahul will play Samantha’s boyfriend in the film. We are talking to a few more actresses for another role. We will confirm the same in a few days’ time.” It was also speculated that Nayanthara and Nithya Menen were being considered as replacement for Samantha.

In November 2017, Pawan Kumar confirmed the project would roll from early 2018. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, he said: “The regular shooting will commence from January next year. The pre-production work is currently underway. Since Samantha is part of the project, we’re planning to make it big,” he said.

Samantha was recently seen in Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai and in the Savitri biopic, Mahanati. She is a part of Vijay Sethupathi’s Super Deluxe and Sivakarthikeyan’s yet-untitled Tamil project with Ponram.
