Cashing on the buzz surrounding the film, its international theatrical rights have been snapped for Rs 23.5 crore. This includes Rs 15.5 crore for the rights of the film’s Telugu version in the US and Rs 8 crore for out-of-India rights of the Tamil version. Going by the excellent pre-release buzz, the film is expected to open big when it hit the screens.
Spyder, a spy-thriller directed by AR Murugadoss, has been confirmed to hit the screens worldwide on September 27. The makers are currently filming the high-octane action-based climax sequence in Chennai. In the film, Mahesh is said to have performed stunts sans body doubles. The film’s production designer Rupin Suchak had said that Mahesh didn’t hesitate to shoot an action sequence atop a roller-coaster ride. Even stunts doubles were quite apprehensive about this particular sequence.
The film, which is being made on a budget of over Rs 100 crore, also stars Rakul Preet Singh and SJ Suryah in important roles. Harris Jayaraj has composed the tunes and the first single - Boom Boom Bam Bam - was released on Wednesday and was well received. Spyder marks the first time collaboration of Murugadoss and Mahesh Babu. The film will have a simultaneous release in Telugu and Tamil this Dussehra.
