Trisha Krishnan to play a detective in Kuttrappayirchi
Trisha Krishnan has signed upcoming crime thriller Kuttrappayirchi, in which she will be seen playing a private detective and her character is modeled on Rajani Pandit, India’s first female detective.
Trisha Krishnan is one among the most popular southern actress. Having recently completed 15 years in her acting journey, she seems to have a taken a detour in her career with her recent choice of films. With interesting line-up of films such as 1818, Mohini, Hey Jude and Garjanai, she has signed upcoming crime thriller Kuttrappayirchi, in which she will be seen playing a private detective and her character is modeled on Rajani Pandit, India’s first female detective. The project was announced via a statement on Wednesday.
It is believed that this will be the first time a leading lady will be seen playing a detective in the history of Tamil cinema. To be directed by Verniq, an erstwhile associate of national award-winning director Bala, the film is based on true events revolving around a murder case. The story will be set in 1980s and the supporting cast includes Surbhi and Super Subbarayan among others. To be produced by G Vivekanandan, the film will have music by Radhan.
Having recently walked out of Vikram’s Saamy 2 over creative differences, she is currently shooting for action-thriller Paramapadham Vilayattu, in which she is said to have performed the stunts on her own. Not long ago, she also expressed her interest to star in the biopic on later Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa. Last year, in an interview to News 18, Trisha said she would love work in the biopic of Jayalalithaa because: “I think she is all woman power and that’s the biopic I would like to do. She has got a very interesting career graph as well a very intriguing political graph.” Unfortunately, no filmmaker so far has expressed interest in doing a biopic on Jayalalithaa.
