After playing dual roles in last year’s action-drama Annadurai, actor-composer Vijay Antony will don khaki for the first time in his career in his upcoming release Thimiru Pudichavan, which was officially announced on Thursday with a poster. Known for the quirky titles of his film, Antony has yet again stirred up curiosity with this title. To be directed by Ganesha, an erstwhile assistant of SS Rajamouli, the film went on the floors on Wednesday. Antony is learning Silambam, stick-based martial arts, to play his part in the film.
According to director Ganesha, Antony would be seen doing Silambam in some action sequences. “Dedication and perfection is what it really concerns Vijay Antony sir. When I told him he might be required to learn silambam, he jumped in excitement. He makes sure that even the minutest things are done in complete neatness. This unique trait indeed has been escalating his career growth decorously,” Ganesha said in a statement.
Also starring Nivetha Pethuraj, Vijay Antony Film Corporation will produce the film, which will be Antony’s second release of the year. He currently awaits the release of Kaali, in which he has essayed four roles. Directed by Vanakkam Chennai fame Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, the film is slated to hit the screens on March 30. Anjali, Amritha, Shilpa Manjunath and Sunaina play the leading ladies in Kaali, which will be dubbed and released in Telugu. Antony has pinned high hopes on both the projects as his last release Annadurai didn’t reap the kind of results he expected. He hopes to bounce back strongly with these projects which have so far created the right kind of anticipation.
