We met over pizza. Yeah, I know that doesn’t sound exciting or even remotely romantic. We had common friends who felt that we should meet.

We had planned to go out but it started raining. Although I love the rains, I didn’t want to get drenched on my first date. So we watched a film, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, at my place and ordered in a pizza.

The film was quite different from the book but it was nice. The pizza was great. We enjoyed being together. A couple of weeks later, we were waiting for a common friend. It was a reunion of sorts. But the friend stood us up. We weren’t in the mood for window shopping, so we went over to her place.

She wanted to make a pizza. But we realised that we didn’t have any toppings. So we shopped for mushrooms and capsicum. The pizza was superb!

I proposed to her over our next pizza meeting. Our pizza outings became more frequent after that. We would even park my car outside a pizza joint and enjoy pizza with a can of beer. It was fun!
