MUMBAI: A day after winning the women’s singles final, Riya Arolkar won the under-19 and under-17 girls’ singles and doubles crowns to steal the show in the Servo Greater Mumbai district badminton championship.
In the under-17 singles final, Riya, a student of Jai Hind college, comfortably defeated Rudra Rane 21-13, 21-12. In the doubles, she teamed up with Hrissha Dubey to overcome Rudra Rane and Saniya Shivalkar 21-11, 19-21, 22-20 in a closely fought final at the NIA badminton courts.
In the women’s and girls’ under-19 finals, Riya played with great finesse as she beat the same opponent, Kareena Madan to emerge victorious.
