Board withholds funds to Vidarbha after it accepts Lodha advisory

MUMBAI: While the BCCI is waging its own battle with the Supreme Court, its rift with the ICC’s independent chairman Shashank Manohar, is only getting wider.
The BCCI may have disbursed close to `500 crores to all state associations in two days after taking a decision in the emergent working committee on September 29. The decision ran into a controversy now with the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee objecting to it. However, HT has learnt that the BCCI has withheld the disbursement of Vidarbha Cricket Association’s share. VCA is the home turf of Manohar.
The VCA on September 30 became the first BCCI-affiliated unit to unanimously adopt the new Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations as per the Lodha panel’s suggestions. Tripura association followed suit. “We haven’t received any disbursement from the BCCI as yet. We are aware that all other associations have received their share. We don’t know the reason why the BCCI has decided to not release only our funds. Even Tripura has received their funds,” a top VCA official told HT.
BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke could not be reached for a comment.
