FOX BOROUGH: Peru stunned Brazil 1-0 Sunday night, eliminating it from Copa America on a late goal by Raul Ruidiaz that may have been a hand ball.

Peru beat Brazil for the first time in 31 years to win Group B and will face Colombia in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Dominated for most of the game, Peru’ s Andy Polo managed a take away and crossed to Ruidiaz in the box. He deflected the ball into the net, and Brazil keeper Alisson immediately complained the ball also made contact with Ruidiaz’s hand. After a lengthy discussion by referees, the goal was allowed.

“Everyone saw what happened today. There’s nothing to do. If you do not have images, all work can be (thrown) off. We cannot change what every one saw. The imponderable, there’s nothing we can do,” Brazil coach Dunga said.

ECUADOR IN QUARTERS

EAST RUTHERFORD: Ecuador set up a Copa America Centenario quarterfinal showdown with the United States on Sunday after romping to a comfortable 4-0 win over Haiti.

Goals from Enner Valencia, Jaime Ayovi, Christian Noboa and Antonio Valencia completed a routine win for Ecuador who are now assured of finishing in second place in Group B. Ecuador -making their first appearance in the Copa America quarter-finals since 1997 -- will now travel to Seattle to face the United States at Century Link Field on Thursday.
