KINGSTON: “The snapper you ate just now will cost you more from tomorrow,” informed the lady at the stall counter. Asked why, she said a tropical thunderstorm is set to lash Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean from Monday. Fishermen have been asked to evacuate cays and return to the mainland and hence the higher price could last a few days. Emancipation Day in the Caribbean means time for prices to soar. But this is something Jamaica didn’t bargain for. The Caribbean islands are famous for their seafood dishes.
