Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh were suspended by the All India Footballer Federation from the sub-junior national championship 2015-16 for including players who were over-aged.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday suspended four teams -- Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh -- from the sub-junior national championship 2015-16 for including players who were over-aged.
As per the recent initiative of AIFF to curb age cheating, a two-member team including a doctor, was sent to each venue of the ongoing sub-junior national football championship, AIFF said in a release.
According to the investigation that was carried out by the team, one player from each of the four teams was found to be over-aged following independent medical tests.
As per the regulations, the sides were disqualified in line with AIFF’s zero tolerance policy on age cheating.
Other disciplinary actions will be initiated as per applicable AIFF regulations.
