According to insiders, the Chelsea defender was of the opinion that buying a love nest in America would bring the ex 'X Factor' judge back to him.
Sources say Cole might have bought it to mark Cheryl's 28th birthday as well.
Cole, 30, has been in California on a lads' holiday and it is confirmed that his offer on a glamorous pad in Los Angeles has just been accepted.
"Ashley's over the moon that the offer has gone through," a source told Mirror.co.uk.
"He sees it as a chance to make a new start with Cheryl, in a new country, where they can be together and away from daily reminders of his shady past behaviour in the UK," the source added.
The estate is set in a gated community, giving it extra security and privacy. It is also far from the clubbing scene further down the coast, and from temptations such as buxom Playboy Playmates.
