Germany's young guns downed the Brazilians as the teams shared five second-half goals. This is the first time Germany have beaten Brazil in 18 years and only the fourth time in 21 meetings.
After a goal less first half, a second-half penalty by Schweinsteiger and an individual effort from Goetze put the hosts ahead before Brazil's Robinho converted a penalty on 71 minutes. The Germans made sure of victory when Andre Shuerrle scored the third on 80 minutes while Neymar scored Brazil’s second in the 92nd.
Menezes backed by CFB coach Brazil coach Mano Menezes has the backing of Brazil Football Confederation (CFB) president Ricardo Teixeira even the team’s 3-2 loss to Germany means back-to-back defeats after last month's Copa America exit.
"The work will continue in the same vein. We had already expected these difficulties," said president Teixeira. "The project has not changed, Mano will gain the knowledge this team needs."
