FIFA World Cup 2022 Morocco vs Croatia Highlights: Luka Modric's CRO held for 0-0 draw by spirited MOR

A late free kick for Croatia but Morocco manages to clear it. The referee blows the full time whistle as the match ends in a 0-0 draw. Both team share points.

Morocco have the ball close to Croatia D at the final moments, with Ziyech tussling hard in the left flank. However, in  the process he concedes a free kick as Croatia look for a quick attack deep in added time. 

We're done with 90 minutes of play. Six minutes of additional time as we wait if there are any late drama. 

Just 10 minutes plus additional time remain in the contest and we are yet to find an opener. Morocco will be happy with what they have achieved so far and will hope things remain as it is in the closing stage of the match.

Sofyan Amrabat is booked for his tackle on Luka Modric, as he sends the Croatian skipper down on the ground. 

Croatia are struggling to find the gaps, despite moving forward and playing innumerous crosses.

Croatia introduce Marko Livaja in place of Andrej Kramaric. 

Meanwhile, Croatia with a setpiece and Luka Modric with a dangerous delivery, but a flying kick by Morocco defender sends the ball away for corner.

They take the setpiece and are awarded with another corner, but this time from the opposite direction. It is collected and the goalkeeper releases it quickly, to build a counter attack. However, the Morocco forward loses control of the ball right at the edge of the opposition's D. 

Sofyan Amrabat loses the ball, close to his box. Luka Modric then plays it wide but the danger is dealt with by the player himself. No damage done.

Luka Modric concedes a freekick on the right side, slightly wide of the D. Ziyech combine with Achraf Hakimi, as the former nudges the ball, before Hakimi takes an attempt. His shot is dealt by the Croatian goalkeeper. 

Meanwhile, there is another substitute as Abdessamad Ezzalzouli replaces Sofiane Boufal.

Just over 65 minutes, and fans wait for the opening goal.

A good run by Yahia Attiyat Allah, who runs with the ball from the centerline towards the D and plays a beautiful cross. However, it beats both defenders and the forwards. The score remains as it is. 

Mazraoui is struggling to continue and will be stretchered off. He will be replaced by Yahia Attiyat Allah. The score remains 0-0 at the hour mark.

It's end to end ball at the moment as Sofiane Boufal takes a shot but it is blocked. Following which Noussair Mazraoui takes a diving header, but his attempt is blocked by Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.

The attack then quickly transforms in the other end as Croatia play an aerial pass from the right, which is cleared away. There is another attack shortly, but Yassine Bounou gets his hands in the way and Morocco defenders clear the ball.

Meanwhile, the Morocco goalkeeper has stayed down ever since the save, and is receiving medical attention. Mazraoui, who too stayed down on the pitch following his diving attempt, also gets going. 

We are 10 minutes into the second half.

Croatia try to build an early attack from the left flank, but linesman raises his flag as Modric plays the ball inside the D. 

Croatia make one subsitution nas Mario Pasalic comes in for Nikola Vlasic. Croatia get the ball rolling in the second half.

Two minutes of additional time. Meanwhile, there's another lofted pass, which bounces right outside the D as Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou rushes and punches the ball away. However, the ball doesn't go very far from the D as Croatia build a quick attack from the right side. A pass is drilled in and Nikola Vlasic manages to get a connection, but it is brilliantly saved by Yassine Bounou. 

Shortly Luka Modric takes another shot, but it flies top of the cross bar.

The referee then blows the whistle for first half as both the teams go into the interval with no goals. 

We're reaching the first half interval as both sides look to break the deadlock. And Morocco have a free kick, outside the D, towards the right flank.

Hakim Ziyech takes the free-kick, which is cleared away, but he once again tussles for the ball, next to the corner flag before ball rolls for a goal kick. Ziyech believes it should be a corner and tells the linesman in shock “You're joking!”

The formation may be hurting Morocco as they are unable to find large numbers at front, which has often led them in losing possession.

However, for a significant part the game has remained in Croatia half, but no real threats.

No real threats at either goalposts, despite Croatia holding superior position.

Morocco, on the other hand, also have had their chances, but Croatian defenders have kept things under control.

Plenty of action towards the right flank as Perisic plays the ball through, which eventually reaches Kovacic. He delivers a cross, but the Morocco goalkeeper collects it with no difficulties. Half an hour in the clock and the score remains 0-0.

Youssef En-Nesyri receives an lobbed pass, close to the Croatian goalpost, but the ball is cleared for a throw-in. 

Croatia take back possession and try to build an attack from their own half.

A free kick for Morocco, just outside the box at the semi-circle. Achraf Hakimi is taken down by Modric. 

Dominik Livakovic makes a wall, five men are standing, while one lies right behind.

Hakim Ziyech takes the freekick, but bangs it straight into the wall, following which there is a quick counter attack by Croatia, but the danger is cleared for a corner. 

Selim Amallah gifts the ball to Ivan Perisic in Morocco's half and the Croatian tries an ambitious attempt at the goal. His shot, however, sails above the bar. 

Morocco try to build attack and Hakim Ziyech takes two attempt, but both are blocked at the edge of the D. Achraf Hakimi then tries to run from the right D, and takes an attempt. His shot takes a deflection and is collected comfortably by the Croatia goalkeeper.

Following the setpiece, Croatia once again dictate proceedings, playing long balls but so far no threat from either of the two sides. 10 minutes in the clock and the score remains 0-0.

Croatia get an early corner, and Kovacic and Modric combine, before Modric plays it outside the Morocco D. Plenty of chaos, inside the D, but Morocco eventually clear the ball away from danger.
