"I took several medical examinations and it is going in the right direction," said the seven-time Grand Slam champion, on Wednesday. "But it is still a slow recovery, so I need to be patient again until the end of 2010."
The one-time number one said on her website that she could only resume training in two months.
Henin fell during her Wimbledon quarter-final against compatriot Kim Clijsters, finishing the match in pain.
She is due back on court at the Hopman Cup mixed team event in Perth, Western Australia from Jan 1 and will team with compatriot Steve Darcis in the eight-nation field.
