Leander Paes and his Hungarian partner Agnes Szavay moved into the second round of the mixed doubles in the Australian Open in Melbourne on Friday.

Paes and Szavay defeated Czech duo David Skoch and Renata Voracova 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 in the first round.

It was an indisciplined performance by the Indo-Hunganrian duo as they committed five double faults and 14 unforced errors. The Czech pair committed three double faults and six unforced errors.

In the second round, Leander and Szavay will face the winner of Australian pair Samuel Groth and Jarmila Gajdosova and Israeli Jonathan Erlich and Chia-Jung Chuang of Chinese Taipei.
