Paris Olympics 2024 Day 5 Highlights: HS Prannoy staved off a scare from Vietnam's Le Duc Phat and won his final group game 16-21, 21-11, 21-12. With Lakshya Sen earlier beating the formidable Jonatan Christie in his last group stage match, it means that it will be an all-Indian round of 16 between Prannoy and Sen in badminton men's singles. Lovlina Borgohain earlier brought herself within one win of securing a historic second Olympic medal as she comprehensively won her round of 32 clash against Estonia's Sunniva Hofstad. However, she will now have to beat Chinese top seed Li Qian next to do so. Nishant Dev secured victory against Jose Gabriel Rodriguez Tenorio in the men's 71kg round of 16. He, like Lovlona, is this one win away from securing a medal as well.

Deepika Kumari is through to the round of 16 in women's individual archery, having beaten won her first two rounds in what has been a largely good day for Indian athletes at the Paris Olympics. It wasn't to be for Tarundeep Rai though, who lost to Great Britain's Tom Hall and failed to make it past the first round in men's individual archery.

Sreeja Akula joined Manika Batra in being the only Indian to reach the round of 16 in singles table tennis at the Olympics. Akula fought back from losing the first game against Singapore's Jian Zeng and won the match 4-2. Manika's historic journey in singles, however, came to an end as she lost 4-1 to Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Miu Hirano of Japan. Later, Akula's dream run ended as well in the round of 16 as she lost 0-4 to World No.1 Sun Yingsha and that thus brought to an end the Indian challenge in singles table tennis.

PV Sindhu registered another dominant win as she beat Kirstin Kuuba in the 21-5, 21-10 win in her final group stage match. The Estonia shuttler was no match to Sindhu, as the match lasted for just 32 minutes.

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, among the medal hopes for India in rifle shooting, failed to make it past qualification in men's 50m rifle 3 position. However Swapnil Kusale finished seventh in the event and will now shoot for a medal in the final. Anush Agarwalla, India's sole representative in equestrian, is in action in Dressage Individual Grand Prix event.

Archery:

- Deepika Kumari through to round of 16 in women's individual archery after beating Reena Parnat (EST) in round of 64 and Quinty Roeffen in round of 32.

- Tarundeep Rai lost 6-4 to Great Britain's Tom Hall in men's individual archery round of 64

Boxing

- Lovlina Borgohain beat Estonia's Sunniva Hofstad in women's 75kg round of 16, through to quarterfinals

- Nishant Dev beat Jose Gabriel Rodriguez Tenorio in the men's 71kg round of 16, through to quarterfinals

Shooting:

- Swapnil Kusale finished seventh in men's 50m rifle 3 position, through to final

- Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar finished 11th in in men's 50m rifle 3 position, knocked out

- Shreyasi Singh and Rajeshwari Kumari finished 23rd and 22nd respectively in Day 2 of women's trap qualification.

Badminton:

- PV Sindhu beat Kristin Kuuba 21-5, 21-10 win women's singles group stage match, qualified for round of 16

- Lakshya Sen beat Jonatan Christie 21-18, 21-12 in men's singles group stage, qualified for round of 16

- HS Prannoy beat Le Duc Phat 16-21, 21-11, 21-12 in men's singles group stage, through to round of 16

Table tennis:

- Sreeja Akula beat Jian Zeng 4-2, through to women's singles round of 16

- Manika Batra lost 4-1 to Miu Hirano in women's singles round of 16

- Sreeja Akula lost 0-4 to China's Sun Yingsha in women's singles round of 16

Equestrian:

- Anush Agarwalla out in men's dressage with score of 66.444 with his partner Sir Caramello Old.
