Somdev Devvarman defeated Ti Chen 7-5, 6-4, 6-4 to give India a 1-0 lead over Chinese Taipei in a Davis Cup tennis match in the Asia-Oceania Group I in Taiwan on Friday.

Somdev Devvarman defeated Ti Chen 7-5, 6-4, 6-4 to give India a 1-0 lead over Chinese Taipei in a Davis Cup tennis match in the Asia-Oceania Group I in Taiwan on Friday.

It was Somdev's first Davis Cup win. Rohan Bopanna will play Yen-Hsun Lu in the second singles at the Yang-Ming Tennis Centre later on Friday.
