The second Grand Slam season is upon us with the 2026 French Open slated to get underway on Sunday, May 24, at Stade Roland Garros in Paris. Ahead of the start of the tournament, the organisers will announce the singles draw, which will take place in the French capital on Thursday, May 21.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner arrives in Paris as the overwhelming favourite in the men's singles draw. The Italian is currently on a 29-match winning streak, which includes a run to a title haul at five ATP Masters 1000 events this season: Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, Madrid, and Rome. He came close to clinching the major on the Parisian red dirt last year, before a sensational come-from-behind win saw Carlos Alcaraz win the title in the final. However, the Spaniard won't be around this time in Paris, as he continues to recover from a wrist injury that saw him miss the second-half of the clay-court season this time, and has ruled himself out of Wimbledon as well.

Nonetheless, Sinner will face tough challenges from Novak Djokovic, who will remain in the hunt for his 25th slam, and Alexander Zverev, who will target his first major crown after being one set from the title in 2024. Meanwhile, former Roland Garros champion Stan Wawrinka and Frenchman Gael Monfils are set for their final appearances in the draw.

The women's draw will be full of potential this time. Defending champion Coco Gauff has not had a great clay-court season this time and will face a threat from last year’s runner-up, Aryna Sabalenka, four-time Roland-Garros winner Iga Swiatek, and a rejuvenated Elina Svitolina, who won her biggest title in eight years on the clay in Rome last week.

Major absentee from men's draw: That will be none other than reigning champion Alcaraz. Italy's Lorenzo Musetti had also withdrawn from the tournament, which gave Wawrinka a spot in the main draw. Holger Rune and Jack Draper, both recovering from their respective injuries, will also miss out.
