Bihar Class X student develops technology to produce cheap electricity: Report

A Class X student from Jamui district of Bihar has developed a technology that can play an instrumental role in producing the cheapest electricity in the world. According to a report by Hindustan Times's sister website Live Hindustan, Rohit Kumar has developed a Hydro Lifting Technology to produce economical electricity after rigorous research of seven years.

How will the electricity be generated ?

The USP of this technology is that for the generation of electricity by this method, water is required to flow into the dam only once. After this, water can be easily transported from the lower dam to the higher dam by spending very little energy.

How would the cost be minimised by this technology ?

In order to move water from the lower dam to the higher dam, only 15 percent of the electricity generated will be spent. The remaining 85 per cent can be used for other purposes. Otherwise, it is very expensive to carry water from the lower to the higher dam. Because of this, it could not be included in the global tradition of electricity generation.

Rohit says that this is till now the world’s cheapest hydro lifting technology developed. The start-up has also got a provisional patent and has applied for a permanent patent. With this technology, up to one megawatt of electricity can be produced in an area of ​​three acres at a cost of 11 crores. This makes it possible to produce electricity throughout the year.
