A statement on Federer’s official website says he had “successful arthroscopic knee surgery today (Wednesday) in Switzerland to repair a torn meniscus.”
The statement did not specify which knee is injured, though said it happened the day after his Australian Open semifinal loss against Novak Djokovic.
Federer says “my doctors have ensured me that the surgery was a success and with proper rehabilitation, I will be able to return to the Tour soon.”
His next scheduled tournament is in Indian Wells, California, starting March 7.
