The festival, also known as Greater Eid or Eid Qurban or Qurban Bayarami, is celebrated on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Zul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic or lunar calendar. It marks the end of the annual pilgrimage or Hajj to the Saudi holy city of Mecca and is celebrated in remembrance of Abraham's readiness to sacrifice his son to God.
