EC allows journalists on poll duty to vote through postal ballot

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Sibin C said that according to the notification issued by the ECI, media personnel authorised by ECI for poll day coverage and other state government department officials can vote via postal ballot under Section 60 (c) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Karnataka records its highest voter turnout in state polls at 73.19%

The turnout is likely to rise further as votes polled through postal ballot and ‘Vote for Home’ (VFH) facility for elderly residents are yet to be counted, the poll body added.

Govt for wider consultations before allowing postal ballots for NRIs

The EC has proposed to the government to extend the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) facility, so far available to service voters, to eligible overseas Indian voters.

EC said it has been receiving several representations from Indian diaspora residing abroad to facilitate voting through postal ballots since such overseas electors are not in a position to be present in their polling area.(PTI)
