US House passes Dreamers bill, H-1B approvals drop by 10%

For the first six months of this fiscal year, the overall H-1B approval rate for new and continuing visas continued to plummet to 79% by the end of March, down from 85 per cent last year, the daily reported.

Donald Trump administration shifting H-1B selection to favour merit

The proposed change in the selection process would result in an estimated increase of up to 16% (or 5,340 workers) in the number of selected those with a master’s degree or higher from a US institution of higher education, according to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which runs the H-1B programme

US to ‘revise definition’ of H1B visa, move may hit Indian tech companies

On Wednesday, the US authorities said they plan to revise the definition of specialty occupations under H-1B visas, with an aim to get the best and the brightest foreign nationals.

All unselected H1B petitions for 2019 returned: US

USCIS had received 94,213 H-1B petitions in the general category and 95,885 in the advanced degree category on April 6. The federal agency resorted to a computerised draw of lots to select the successful applicants.

Over 4 lakh Indians in US may have to wait 151 years for green card: Report

According to the USCIS, there were 2,16,684 primary Indian applicants under EB-2 category and 2,16,684 spouses and children, thus making a total of 4,33,368. EB-2 immigrants are applicants with advanced degrees.

Indians account for more than three-fourth in Green Card queue: official US figures

As of May 2018, there were 3,95,025 foreign nationals waiting for Green Card under the employment-based preference category. Of these 3,06,601 were Indians, according to the latest figures released by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

US awards far more H-1B visas outside cap, finds study

A total of 345,262 H-1B petitions were approved in fiscal 2016, including 230,759 in uncapped categories, the highest level yet, the Immigration Policy Institute said in a detailed report on H-1B visas.
