Not everyone who has been a part of reality show Bigg Boss has good things to share about it — actor Ankit Gera is one of them. Unlike other actors who say that the show boosted their career, Ankit says that this wasn’t the case with him.

“Trying new things has always been on my mind. After playing positive characters in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya and Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, I opted to portray a negative role in Maharakshak: Devi. Soon after the show, I got an offer from Bigg Boss. I really liked the show hence decided to take it up. So my career was already going in the right direction and it won’t be true to say Bigg Boss helped me in getting better roles,” he says. “Rather I feel your talent counts. Among the contestants who participated in the season that I did, only Prince (Narula) got a TV show offer, while most of them were already working or had taken a break. Also, I am glad that I didn’t stay inside the house longer. Otherwise it would have been difficult for me to survive amid the negativity,” says Ankit, who is currently playing the role of Anurag in Agnifera.

Ankit says that while he understood that everyone in the house was vying for the trophy, he found it hard to deal with the constant bickering over food and other things. “Maintaining sanity wasn’t easy,” adds Ankit, who was the first one to get evicted.

Does this mean that he won’t take up reality shows in future? “I am not averse to the idea, but the offer needs to be good enough. Also, right now I want to concentrate on my ongoing show and have no intentions of taking up a reality show,” he says.
