Ashish Sharma's illness brings out new subplots for Rangrasiya

Actors on television don't generally get days off, not even when they are unwell. While a lot has been written about their lengthy work hours and gruelling schedules, when an actor falls sick and is unable to shoot, it's the writers who have to scurry to change story tracks overnight.

Earlier this week, actor

Ashish Sharma

fell ill and was diagnosed with viral fever. He has been advised bed rest, but as his show Rangrasiya doesn't have an episode bank, the creative team was in a fix regarding the next course of action.

A source says, "Currently, on the show, the track of Rudra (Ashish) and Paro’s (

Sanaya Irani

) wedding functions is on. But now Ashish will be unable to shoot. He has been recuperating and will need a few days before he returns to the sets. So, the team is now focusing on other subplots, including a plot to murder Rudra."

Ashish's wife, actor Archana Taide says, "He had a bacterial infection and high fever. We thought it might be malaria and got it checked, but the tests were negative. But due to fever, he has been feeling weak and has to rest for a few days."

On being contacted, producer Abhinav Shukla says, "Yes, Ashish has been diagnosed with fever and has been severely unwell. But he is getting better and will soon resume shooting in a few days."

No break for Shahnaz

While one actor got a break from shooting, Shahnaz Rizwan wasn"t so lucky. The senior actor, who had an accident recently, had to report to the sets of her show, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, as she was required in the episode. Since her injuries weren't serious, the writers managed to weave in a subplot about her falling off the bed and therefore being in a wheelchair.
