Telly actor Sangeeta Ghosh gets candid about Shabbir Ahluwalia and the plunging TRPs of Viraasat. Interviewed byRiya V Anandwala.
Viraasat has been on air since a year now. Are you happy with the way it is going?
It's been okay, not really great but I have received a good response for my character.
But the show has low TRPs. Why?
The show suffered a big blow when it was shifted from Star Plus to Star One. None of us felt good about this.
What is it like working with a big banner like BR Films?
Initially I was scared of doing a daily soap but Raviji made me feel very comfortable. Moreover the working atmosphere is congenial. I gel well with everyone and flirt too!
Any other offers coming your way?
Yeah, but I am very happy with Viraasat right now. When people come up with offers, I prefer not to listen to the narration. It is pointless when I cannot take it up.
It's surprising that you've never worked with Balaji Telefilms?
(Laughs) As a matter of fact, I have Mano Ya Na Mano years ago.
Are you considering any reality shows?
There have been a couple of offers, but I’m not considering them. I’m waiting for Nach Baliye 3, hopefully it will start soon.
Will you be a host or one of the celebrity couples on the show?
Oh no.. not that question again.
Are you dating Shabbir Ahluwalia?
You know what the problem is? Our on-screen chemistry is so good that people think we’re dating. I don’t deny sharing a very good rapport and chemistry off-screen with Shabbo, but we’re just buddies. There is nothing brewing between us.
If not Shabbir then who’s your guy?
No one. If such link-ups keep coming in print, no one will fall for me.
You were linked with Vikas Bhalla too. You reportedly stayed in his room while shooting in Dubai.
Come on, he was the only Indian I knew in Dubai. He just offered me a helping hand.. even I would have done that if someone needed help. This was blown out of proportion.
Who are your closest pals in the industry?
I’m very close to Nandita Mehra (director of serial Rabba Ishq Na Hove) and Jayati Bhatia. I guess Shabbo too. I can always rely on them.
