Recent reports claimed that Soni Singh was apparently assaulted by her ex-boyfriend on Monday (July 6), and that altercation led to a police complaint later on. But the TV actor has denied any involvement in the case.

A seemingly distressed Soni told us, “I was with a friend at a party when she and her boyfriend got into a fight. He was drunk, so things got out of hand, and when he began hitting her, I intervened. In the process, he slapped me too. Soon the cops came, and my friend and her boyfriend went to the police station. My name was involved for no reason. My name isn’t in the FIR.”

The actor’s family is disturbed by the incident. Her brother-in-law, Hitesh Singh, says, “The media should be responsible before reporting anything. We are looking for marriage proposals for her, and to hear about her ex-boyfriend and the assault is damaging to anyone’s reputation. We plan to file a case against the boy [who slapped her].”

Even though Soni has been left shaken by the incident, she doesn’t regret standing up for her friend. “I feel women should stand up for each other. Men, like my friend’s boyfriend, can’t think that they can hit a girl, and get away with it,” she says.
